How We Do It

Paulownia & Poplar Wood

Paulownia and poplar wood are exceptional materials for interior shutters, offering the perfect balance of strength, stability, and lightweight properties. Their fine, even grain ensures a smooth and flawless finish, making them ideal for both painted and stained shutters.

The Perfect Choice for Interior Shutters

To enhance their durability, we engineer Paulownia and poplar using block lamination and finger jointing techniques, creating a more stable and resilient structure while minimising natural imperfections.

Despite their light weight, both woods remain incredibly strong and naturally resistant to warping and shrinking, they perform exceptionally well in varying indoor conditions.

"As fast-growing and sustainable hardwoods, Paulownia and poplar provide eco-friendly solutions without compromising on quality, making them premium choices for interior shutters."

Sourcing

Our wood is responsibly sourced from sustainable forests in China. The timber is carefully selected, hand-stripped, and prepared, ensuring it’s ready to be crafted into stunning, high-quality shutters.

Drying

The freshly cut logs are first cut into large planks and carefully stacked in teepee-like structures for the initial drying phase. Following this, the planks are transferred to a kiln, where they are dried for up to 4 days. Once fully dried, the planks are milled and ready to move on to the next phase of the manufacturing process.

Wood Engineering

After milling, the wood is shaped and crafted into our shutter components using the block lamination method and finger jointing techniques. This unique engineering process ensures market-leading strength in our shutter components, with significantly reduced warp and bow.

Assembly & Finishing

Each component of our shutters undergoes meticulous manual inspection, precise measurement, and expert assembly by our dedicated team. This ensures that every shutter meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship, delivering exceptional results every time.

Quality Control

We have developed the highest standards of quality control to ensure that every shutter undergoes meticulous hand inspection before being packaged. In addition, we visit the factory several times each year to ensure these standards are consistently upheld. Every shutter is also photographed, providing a reference should we ever need it in the future.

PureCoat™ Technology

We have developed an industry-leading and patent-protected coating process called PureCoat technology.

Engineered to Last

PureCoat technology is a unique process which bonds the coating material and the underlying shutter wood.

This process ensures exceptional adhesion, preventing issues such as peeling and chipping, even in harsh weather conditions.

Our PureCoat technology offers superior colour retention and is resistant to fading which ensures a vibrant shutter that is perfect for your home.

We innovated our PureCoat technology with a more efficient production process, allowing us to reduce material waste and minimise our environmental impact.

“It’s our craftsmanship and care behind the scenes that make the difference — every shutter we ship reflects our pride in getting it right.”
